The sick people who were inflicted to so many diseases during that era of which the North Western Province was being highly populated were tent to trong the General Hospital, kurunegala which was the only one hospital for patients treatments at that time being sought redressed for their own illness. Due to the congestion created as a result of the full of general public who arrived from all around the country, some people were compelled to stay at the hospital premises for a long time without the least facilities until such time their turn come. Fortunately there was a gentleman admiring philanthropy who were turning his own heart sincerely towards this pathetic situation. He who was seeing a long time at this sight thought lengthily when he went his home. He might be thought rhat what a value it there is an opportunity to take treatments for patients justly and easily than this. This great man who was thinking for a while came to a decesion. he who stood up from the seat soon, called his affectionate wife and told the idea perceived in his mind. she who is not disregard even a word of her loving husband accepted this excellent idea with full of pleasure and came to a final decesion admixed with freindlyness of both of them. In such away, innauguration of the Co-operative Hospital, Kurunegala was marked with the donation of property belonegd to late Mr. U B Wanninayake who was a reputed person with expertise as well as a late Principal of Maliyadeva College, a late Minister of Finance in the Democtratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka 1965-1970 and his loving wife late Mrs. Chandra Wanninayake.
